.01 Handcrafted web design

I am an Italian Web Designer and Front-end Developer with a strong passion for Responsive Web Design and a high attention to details. My job is to design for all the digital experiences: from mobile and tablet to desktop.

I work on daily basis with the latest technologies, such as: HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, SASS, Grunt.JS in order to provide fast and accessible experiences for the users. My attention is focused on:

  1. Performance
  2. User experience
  3. Design
  4. Cross browser issues

I design web experiences with a Progressive Enhancement approach:

Progressive enhancement is an approach to web development that aims to deliver the best possible experience to the widest possible audience — whether your users are viewing your sites on an iPhone, a high-end desktop system, a Kindle, or hearing them on a screen-reader, their experience should be as fully featured and functional as possible.
- Filamentgroup

I always start with content, marked up in rich, semantic (X)HTML. After that I add CSS to enhance the visual experience and finally JavaScript based on the capabilities of the browser or device attempting to use it.

Good design

The craft of web design and development is in a phase of re-invention. You need to be up to date and have a deep knowledge of front-end development. Great design can’t be achieved without being aware of the tools and features that you have at your disposal

You can find here a list of tools that help me building rich and accessible websites:

.02 Search Engine Optimization

Search engine optimisation is the art of affecting the visibility of a website in a search engine’s “natural” or “organic” search results by increaings visibility via relevant copy, quality links, domain trust, social popularity and search engine connectivity.

SEO involves mastering many skills: web design, php, html, css, server management, copywriting, analytics tools, back link analysis, keyword research, social media etc...

My job is helping companies to improve their business' prominence in online search results.

SEO or inbound Marketing?

“Inbound Methodology empowers marketers to attract visitors, convert leads, close customers, and delight promoters.”

Over the years, with updates like Panda and Penguin keywords and inbound links won't stand alone as primary factors in your website's search rank.

A modern SEO should embrace content creation, link outreach, PR, CRO, analytics and Social media marketing. He has to provide value to the Brand and he should be able to misure goals and ROI.

.03 Photography

I've found photography one and a half years ago. I read somewhere that owning a DSLR does not make a photographer greater than the father with a point-and-shoot who just wants to remember his son's ballgame.

I guess that's right. There aren't "bad photos" or "good photos" only moments, emotions, faces, people, places saved on a camera for the world to see.

When words become unclear, I shall focus with photographs. When images become inadequate, I shall be content with silence.
- Ansel Adams

It's not your equipment that makes the difference, it is not how skilled you are that helps you shoot great photos. What makes great a photo is the message that lies within, is the answer to the question "why":

Why did you take that photo?
